If you are planning to get married, you may find it easier and less stressful if you first decide on a theme or motif. Everything from the wedding invitations to the bridesmaids’ gowns should center on that one theme. Your wedding will look organized and well thought out.

who to invite to your wedding

For instance, if you want a wine-and-roses themed wedding, you can give small wine bottles as wedding souvenirs, choose a wine-colored invitation, and have your reception decorated like a vineyard. Guests will definitely be awed and will remember how unique and creative your wedding was. Just don’t forget to send out your wedding invitations.

Bridesmaid’s Dress Woes

ugly bridesmaid dresses

I have worn some really ugly bridesmaid dresses, but the last wedding I was in was the worst. Belinda was getting married, and I was her maid of honor. We had been best friends since we were in nappies, and I would do anything for her. That includes wearing the most hideous dress I had ever laid eyes on.The thing was horrible. First off the colors included cotton-candy pink, baby blue and lemon yellow. Some could have mistaken me for an Easter egg! The layered-chiffon monstrosity was ruffled around the neck and on the trim, and had a gigantic bow at the waist. Even worse all the bridesmaids had to wear white stockings with the dress. Not only did I look like an Easter egg, but I looked like a fat Easter egg.

The only thing that got me through the entire production was the thought of the expensive bridesmaid gifts I knew Belinda would give us. I participated in the wedding because I loved my best bud, but I’ll tell you what—the diamond necklace she gave me didn’t hurt.

Emerald Isle Wedding

celtic wedding

More and more often couples are tiring of traditional wedding themes, and looking for unique alternatives. An Irish or Celtic wedding theme, for example, is a way of getting in touch with Irish heritage, while keeping your ceremony different from other ceremonies.Throughout history most Celtic wedding ceremonies were held during one of the four major festivals; Beltane, Lughnassadh, Samhain, or Imbolc. For couples planning winter wedding themes, planning the wedding during Imbolc, which starts on Feb. 1, would be the logical choice.

Many looking forward to a Celtic-themed wedding will choose Celtic-love-knot wedding bands, or an emerald engagement ring to symbolize the Emerald Isle. Those couples also may choose to don traditional Irish dress for the ceremony. Brides who decide to wear a traditional Celtic wedding dress may also wear a colorful Kinsale cloak. Grooms may wear traditional Celtic garb to match the bride, or a green cumberbund and tie.
